Today we’re going to have some fun running a Photoshop Hashlips NFT generator script.
I am mostly known for creating the Hashlips art engine, the piece of software that’s being used to create NFTs as well as metadata for being uploaded on the blockchain.
Recently I have seen a spike in the pull request and the stars of this repo I also saw an influx in people creating new solutions for 3d programs music motion graphics all based on the Hashlips art engine and that is amazing.
I found a particular interest in the photoshop script going around allowing people to create this kind of generative artwork, the only problem with those repos was that it doesn’t really create metadata as well as produce very very large file sizes.
That being said I found it quite interesting and I wanted to give it a try so I created the Hashlips art engine pa script and you can find it at this URL it is a simple script that you can run in photoshop directly to create your metadata as well as the nfts by nfts I mean images and metadata how cool is that it’s a very basic script but depending on the demand of this video and how much hype this gets if I get a ton of likes and shares on this video please let me know in the comments if you would like to see me expand on this and include things like rarity and trait types and all these kind of good stuff
All right but that is enough talking and let’s jump into the process.
So the first thing that you’ll need to do is go to this URL go to this release click on it currently it’s on version 1.0.0 and then download this zip code file so after you have downloaded the script files you can unzip them and there they are I can get rid of the zip and now we have our folder which we’ve just downloaded.
The next item that you’ll need is of course your photoshop file drag this photoshop file directly into this folder then you can open it up and let’s go and open the photoshop file and there we go so this is how my photoshop file looks but obviously yours will look different as long as you follow what i tell you to do in this video you can run this and generate your artworks the photoshop file is pretty simple.
In your layers panel over here on the right, all you need to do is create groups of elements when i talk about elements you can see that i’ve got eyes if i unhide them you can see that this whole group consists of a bunch of eye files and they are looking different and cool the same thing goes for the next attribute which is the mouth so in the mouth group we’ve got different mouths to choose from each group is considered to be an attribute and this will show up in your metadata so whatever the group’s name is over here it’s important to have the correct spelling and the attribute’s name that you want it to show up on Opensea along with the names.
It’s very important the order that these are in that’s quite simple because you will quickly realize that putting the fur on top of the eyes might not work because you can’t see anything so that kind of has to come by just rearranging all your artworks to make sure that as you unhide and hide them that they make sense in the order that they overlap and that is basically it just to recap you will need to put each attribute in its own respective group like this and you don’t have to unhide or hide the inner files in these groups the program will do it automatically but what is important is that you have all the eyes selected on these groups and that you don’t have anything else in this file it should only be your groups and now it’s time for the fun to begin.
While you’re on your photoshop file go to the top tabs click on file and then go to the script section and click on browse you can now navigate to the place where you’ve downloaded the Hashlips art engine for the photoshop script and there we see our test.psd we now want to select this generate.js script I want to mention if you are using windows you might need to select the file type to be js once you have this selected click on open a dialog box will pop up asking you are about to use the Hashlips art generator are you sure you want to continue at this point you can exit as well but we are going to say yes.
Now it asks us how many images do we want to generate for this tutorial I’m just going to generate 20. keep in mind the more you generate the longer it’s going to take the program so just leave photoshop open I’m going to click on ok then it’s going to ask what is the name of our collection this name gets appended to each one of the nfts so I’m going to maybe call this sacc, by the way, the images we’re looking at is from the sketchy ape comic book club so sacc and then okay give your collection now a description I’m just going to say this is a cool collection and that’s it you can do a longer description as well now i can click on ok and it will tell me 20 images will be generated so sit back relax and enjoy the art being generated.
Perfect, click on ok once the process is complete and like i said this might take a few minutes depending on how big the collection is this is going to show blank like this it means that the program has been doing its job and now it’s done we can open our finder and see that in the same folder that our psd test file was in there’s a new bold folder so opening the builds folder you can see that there is now images as well as metadata inside the images folder we can now see the images that were generated keep in mind these are just random generations and it randomly picks which files to generate for us.
They look pretty cool along with the images we have a corresponding folder for the metadata and they are named exactly the same 1 to 20.json as well what is metadata well it’s more information about the image for instance this first image over here we can see that it has this cool looking background and it has the banana mouth so if we go to the json 1 we can see that indeed the background has this ultimate script and if we look at the mouth attribute we can see the banana king and that is exactly what we want as we all know now that we have the metadata and the images we have to upload the images to ipfs then once all the images are all uploaded to a decentralized network we can change the image attribute and over there where the value is now to be replaced should be the new url how do we do that directly from photoshop.
Before I show you this I want to mention something if you get stuck at any point in all my tutorials just go to Hashlips.online and then you can click on any of these links that will provide you some support for instance on discord you can join our discord channel which has a big number of members that will always help you out lastly I want to say that if you want to know on how to upload images to ipfs watch this ultimate guide right over there on my main channel and remember to subscribe lastly I also have a new channel and it just started so go and check it out support me over there and subscribe to the Hashlips as well i would highly appreciate that and in this channel I do cool things like 3d printing time-lapses and reviews so how do we replace this image attribute for all the files that’s pretty simple all we need to do is be in the exact same photoshop file and go to the section at the top again at the top bar file script and then click on browse.
This time there’s a script in the same directory last time we clicked on generate this time we’re going to open the update underscore metadata.js remember in windows you need to probably select the js file type let’s go and open this will now prompt a window asking us if we are sure that we want to update the metadata and i can click on yes now photoshop will ask us what is our metadata prefix this can be anything from https to your own server forward-slash something or it could be an ipfs link which i usually write like this ipfs conon and then forward slash forward slash and then the cid the cid is something that is generated on ipfs so watch that video that i recommended if you want to know more about this kind of link then remember the forward slash the training forward slash because what this program will do is it will take a prefix and put the id in there and then provide a suffix which will enter next so once we have our prefix we can click on ok.
Now it’s going to ask us for the suffix like I said the program will automatically insert the edition so all that we need to add is maybe the file type at the end my files are png so what I’ll export this as is dot png and that is what you need to enter enter it in small caps like so and click on ok once you do this it will tell you that the metadata is now complete so if we open the finder and we open one.json again we can now see that the image attribute has our link in this section wonderful the process is complete and that is how easy it was to do this through photoshop and the script.
I want to say thank you to all the fans out there who love watching my videos thank you so much and then there are a few scammers in the comment section so please be aware i will never share my number at all on a public space like this so don’t even click on people recommending that you need to go there however i want to say you must have a fantastic day and a shout out to the sketchy a book club collection this is our collection and if you want to go and mint an ape please go ahead and do so just be sure to be on the correct link up here anyways till next time have an amazing day
